"Quote-worthy Moments"

Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger tides

I would like to introduce a new segment, "Quote-worthy moments". My friend Abby and I love to quote movies (mostly Pirates of the Caribbean) so in this segment I will give you the best, the wittiest, the funniest, the saddest, the happiest and everything in between.  Today I will post quotes from (as the name says) POTC On stranger tides. Here are what I consider "Quote-worthy" moments, lets get started! (These are random by the way)

"Mr Gibbs, the only crime you have committed is the crime of being innocent of being Jack Sparrow"

"You are Jack Sparrow are you not?"

"There should be a "Captain" in there somewhere"

"How is it we can never meet without you pointing something at me?"

"Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again"

"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"

"I am not with you, neither am I against you!"

"Can he do that?"

"He's religious, I believe its required"

"I want one of those!"

"Wet, wet again"

"I wish to report a mutiny Captain! I can point fingers and name names"

"I hate that monkey" & "He's even scarier in miniature!"

"Wait a minute! It might have been the other way around, this cup had the tear, that one had... the other bit"

"Philip you're alive!"

"Ah, the one-legged man"

"You brought him here!??"

"Would I do that?"

"Do not waste my tear"

(Gunshot and splash) "Missed!"

"It's a pirates life for me, Savvy?"

"Face is familiar, have I threatened you before?"

Movie Review: Disney's Mulan 1998

So I just finished watching Mulan, and I've decided to do a movie review. (Yes I will do some other reviews other than Disney movies...someday...maybe:) Anyways, I know my Tangled "review" was basically telling you the whole movie. Today, I won't (sorry:) But I will give you plenty of GIFs!

Plot (SPOILERS)

Mulan is a young independent Chinese woman during the Han Dynasty who's outspoken and independent nature frequently get her into trouble. Though her family has hopes of her marrying, a trip to the the village "Match maker" turns out disastrous.

When the Huns invade China, one man from every family is ordered to fight for the emperor. As the only male in the family, Mulan's crippled father must go.

Fearing that her father will not survive the harsh training or battle, Mulan  cuts her hair and steals her fathers orders, armor and sword. She then makes her way to the training camp, accompanied by a "Lucky" cricket and a small funny dragon named Mushu, who takes upon himself to guide Mulan.

And then... you have to watch the movie to find out. (I can't give away everything this time!)

Review (*More Spoilers)

I liked the Mulan movie, it was all the classic Disney stuff (singing, a small thin and a big fat villain, small romance in the end (tiny) ect) Though there isn't a wedding in the end like you might have expected (not even a kiss for you romantics out there) you are going to have to watch Mulan II for that. (Which I have not seen yet myself). If you are strict about things like these, the family does pray to their ancestors (as was common then) but I have to say its a hilarious bunch! Mushu also has his funny moments, as does Mulan's Grandmother. I do like the soundtrack there are some good songs and great music in the film. There are times when you hold your breath (if you are really into it) as well as sad, sweet and hilarious moments! I would definitely recommend that you watch this movie!

Tag: Top 10 Theme Songs

I recently discovered this thing called "Tags" where you are "tagged"  to answer some questions on a certain topic (such as screen characters). So I decided to start my own tag "Theme songs". Since I don't know very many people in the "blogger world" (I use quotations way too much!) feel free to borrow the idea, take the tag (I know the whole point is to be tagged but since I only know of a handful of bloggers... go ahead!)

So by theme song I mean movie, TV series, TV show, radio program, sitcom, anything like that.  You can write the title of the show and song or episode or season (I know some series like "The Cosby Show" have a different theme song each season) You can leave a link to a YouTube video with the song or post the video on your blog, whatever works.

First though, I am going to answer my own tag. (I'm not sure if that's what you are "suppose to do" anyways, or "not suppose to do", so sue me, I really want to do it!) I am going to do a count down for this one. (P.S click the title of the show/movie/program to go to a video with the theme song on it)

When it comes to theme songs, some of them are dull and you just fast forward them, but there are some good theme songs that I just love to listen to over and over again or that you enjoy listening to from beginning to end before the movie or show starts. (or radio program, as I said, everything goes)

#10

The Bugs Bunny and Tweety show

A classic to be sure (I like classics, as you will soon see) A movie or show has to be epic, classic or hilarious (or at least a little of one of the categories, or I simply will not watch it!)

#9

The last of the Mohicans

I haven't seen the movie (only clips) and I read a few pages here and there from the book out of curiosity, but I found a violin cover of  the theme song and I love it! I am not sure if I want to watch the whole movie, from what I can tell from the clips I watched and the pages I read, it is pretty gruesome. Some parts of the movie are a little graphic I think, by that I mean gory. Not really my thing.

#8

Davy Jones theme (POTC)

Now this isn't a movie theme song per se, but its Davy Jones theme and it has a sweet lullaby as well

heart wrenching dramatic organ music and if you have watched the movie then you know how this perfectly expresses Davy Jones.

#7

Indiana Jones (series)

I have never watched Indiana Jones, but I love the soundtrack nonetheless!

#6

The Brady Bunch

Yes I watched the Brady Bunch, and yes I liked it too! Its a timeless classic, and the theme song stays relatively the same for all 4 seasons, the kids get older and hairstyles change from one season to the next (boy do the hairstyles change!) I still love the show and would watch it again any day.

#5

Back to the Future

Back to the future has an epic theme song, a strong orchestra is the only way I can describe it, it sets the mood well for the exciting parts of the movie.

#4

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I haven't watched an entire episode, but from the clips I can find it seems hilarious, and the theme song is a classic must watch!

#3

The Cosby show season 6

Bill Cosby does some awful silly dance moves here, but I loved watching the whole theme song, relishing every second of it. And you have to see three year old Raven-Symone, she's adorable!

#2

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Battle

As far as I can tell the battle song seems to be the Narnia theme song, and its beautiful!

#1

Pirates of the Caribbean

(If you know me this should come as no surprise!) There are other versions for movies 2,3 and 4 but this I consider the main one (besides I could fill up my whole blog with PotC) This song just gets you pumped up for the movie and if this doesn't excite you or makes you crave adventure no music ever will.

So there you have it, and now for my tag,

I "nominate" (because we are talking movies and music here) Abby at Castles in the Air

Have fun Abby!

My First Yarn Wig

So I tried my hand at yarn wigs, I am putting together an Indian costume for a Cowgirl themed Mystery Dinner tomorrow (I figure with everybody else sporting cowgirl costume, they need an Indian) and my sister and I are known for going all out on our costumes (if you are going to dress up, then really dress up I say! No half-hearted costumes!) So anyways I made a black hair yarn wig because my hair is a dirty blonde, not very native looking:) And I will post pictures of our costumes soon! Also, I will be posting a how-to for yarn wigs on my other blog "All things fun & creative" you can find the link to it in the side bar.

This is the top (My sister Jelena was the model for my wig)

The wig has a lot of volume, I tried to do two braids like an "Indian" but it was waaaaaay too thick

You can see its very long, and it looks somewhat more like dreadlocks, or the hair style some African-Americans (or Canadians) have, I don't know how they do it...

The great thing is that you can style it in so many ways (and hair styles I cannot do on myself)

Some of Jelena's hair is visible... but if you tuck it in, at first glance (and at dusk) it looks almost real

We measured the hair and its about 9 inches around in thickness

And the average length is 38 inches (a few strands are longer, the longest around 41in)

So that was my first yarn wig (I plan to make more in different colors and lengths)

Pretty Nails: Improved nail art!

So yesterday I got these nail art dotting and sketching pens, these are my best nails yet! I went for a chic pink, black and white theme,

Tell me what you think!

Tagged by Abby: Top 10 Favorite Screen Chatacters

I was tagged by Abby at Castles in the air to chose 10 favorite screen characters, this will be hard (I mean I can think of just characters from "Pirates of the Caribbean" but there are so many others...) Also, I do not own any of the pictures)

Jack Sparrow (POTC)

He may seem like a odd self-centered Pirate, but he is really quite witty, unpredictable (in the most hilarious and best way) and he does have a good heart deep down. He saved Elizabeth from drowning, abandoned his crew, but came back, and he is the most hilarious character of any movie ever! (And hey, Johnny Depp, Savvy?)

Elizabeth Swann (POTC)

Elizabeth is strong, independent, smart and caring. (She is also a pirate lord) She marries Will Turner (sigh...) And I really hope they bring her back in the next movie (and Will Turner as well!) Elizabeth has a few moments that don't fit her character (Such as lying to Will and tying Jack to the ship indirectly killing him.) Overall she is simply one of the best characters I can think of.

Will Turner (POTC)

Will cares about the people close to him, and he cares deeply about Elizabeth. He also cares about his father and sets out to kill Davy Jones to set him free. (and I'm not quick to call a character handsome, but in this case)

Edmund Pevensie (Narnia)

Edmund the Just. He was easily lured onto the side of the White Witch in  "The lion, the witch and wardrobe" but he realized his mistakes and made it through a stronger person. He can be a bit rash at times, but he has a good heart and wants to do what is right. And he is my all time favorite Narnian Character

Claire Huxtable (The Cosby Show)

The whole Huxtable family is hilarious and lovable, but my favorite is Claire, the matriarch of the family. She is the caring mother, and faithful wife but has a sometimes mischievous and fun side to her. She is smart, quick and charming and is the anchor of the family.

Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables)

Anne (with an E) and I have a lot in common, we have a big imagination (for better or for worse), are always the ones with ideas (and usually the ones in trouble because of our ideas). But Anne just wants things to work out and cares about pleasing  Marilla and Mathew, and is truly a kindred spirit.

Dr Henry Morgan (Forever)

Dr Henry Morgan is over 200 years old and never ages, every time he dies he comes back in a nearby body of water. He discovered he was immortal after his first fatal bullet wound aboard a slave ship. He has to live with the people closest to him passing away eventually, But he cares and protects the ones he loves at all costs. He works with the NYPD examining the ...victims. He has picked up a lot of knowledge in his long life and jumps to quick and accurate conclusions that amaze his co-workers. He continually searches for a way to unlock his curse and has run ins with another immortal, Adam who is a Roman, alive for the past 2000 years.

James Edwards a.k.a Agent J (MIB)

First of, MIB stands for men in black. Agent J is quick with  sarcastic remarks and a pretty witty character (And Will Smith is a good actor) there's not much more you can say.

Marty McFly (Back to the future)

The movie is definitely a must watch, and Marty McFly is one character! Your typical teenage boy, Marty finds himself  thrust into the past where he has to find a way back home, he has to find and warn the professor who invented the time machine as he is killed at the time Marty takes his unexpected time travel trip. He also has to get his parents together after he inadvertently prevents their first meeting. Marty may be the typical teen boy, but he tries his best to make things work out, he has some hilarious moments and eventually learns to stop letting name calling get to him. (this may sound a little lame, but just watch the movie, you'll understand)

Bugs Bunny (Loony Toons)

Call me silly, call me crazy, but I had to include this cartoon characters that I still sometimes watch (just sometimes...) Bugs Bunny can talk and think his way out of any situation (of course it helps if most of the characters are the height of stupidity but that's besides the point) Its still fun to watch every now and then.

And that concludes my list! I do not know of another blogger to tag so I will just leave it.
